You see trout photos from Pennsylvania.
I see one word: resilience.
Leaking waders. Tough water. Heather’s rod broke just before landing the fish.
She never quit.
And somehow… she still brought that wild brown to hand. ❤️🎣
Most anglers overcomplicate Euro nymph leaders.
In this video, Devin Olsen breaks down the best Euro nymph leader for beginners — step-by-step — so you can rig it correctly and start catching fish with confidence.

One of the best fly tying tips I’ve heard: Think like a fish.
A fly can look great on your vise and still not look right to the fish.
Look at it from below. Hold it into the light. Then test how it rides in the water.
Simple idea — but a really good one from Ben Furimsky.
I asked Tom Baltz for his confidence fly…
His answer: The ParaNymph.
Tom and I will both be at the Lancaster Fly Fishing Show this weekend — stop by and say hello if you’re attending.
What’s your confidence fly?
Most flies don’t spin because of the pattern.
They spin because of the foundation.
Allen Rupp (Fly On The Water) shared a simple step that changes everything:
• Lightly scuff the hook shank • Small drop of green label Zap-A-Gap • Wrap your thread through it
Building a fly tying bench? It’s easy to overthink it.
I put together a breakdown of what actually matters — and what I skip.
Vise. Bobbin. Scissors. The essentials.

Covered in ice today.
Covered in anglers soon.
Western PA crew —
name this creek. 👇
When it finally opens up…
are you starting with a nymph, a Woolly Bugger,
or waiting on the first hatch?
Let’s see who really knows this water.
Greg Patterson of J. Stockard showed me this trick for euro nymphs.
Build a small wire ramp behind your tungsten bead before dubbing or wrapping the body.
It creates a smooth transition and eliminates that hard bead edge.
Save this for your next tying session.
Huge thanks to some of our wonderful pro team who were at The Fly Fishing Show in Denver over the weekend! It looked like you guys had an incredible time! Thank you for all your hard work!
