@hughesfc @bhmalurbanist Also doesn’t help that one of the most prime spots (former Bell Bottoms, across from Chick-fil-A) has sat empty because Barber wants it for retail, instead of another restaurant/bar/club (from what I’ve heard).

@hughesfc @bhmalurbanist Perception of crime/safety (whether based on reality or not) is probably part of it. Also, there was a time that 5 Points was THE spot for restaurants/bars until Lakeview, Avondale, and Parkside came along. COVID certainly struck a blow as well.
