There is a difference between admitting that Christianity is a social good--most of our Founders and many of our Presidents have acknowledged this. Baptists have always acknowledged this. I devoted a whole chapter in my recent book to this! That's significantly different than tasking the government with adjudicating right and wrong forms of worship (which is what blasphemy laws would be). Baptists reject both secularism and theocracy.

Christian nationalists don’t read or understand church history.

Infant baptism was required to be a citizen of the country.

Dissenters (like Baptists) refused to baptize their babies.

Those babies were denied citizenship when they were older.
