Champions again! 🏆

The KIU Crows today presented the 2026 Western Uganda Men’s Regional XVs Rugby League trophy to the KIU Senate, marking back-to-back regional titles and an unbeaten season.

Led by MVP Joshua Aijuka and Captain Clement Ogwal, the Crows sealed a flawless campaign with a 22-9 win over Buddu Bears in Masaka on April 25.

Head Coach Asa Muhanguzi made history, guiding the team through a season without defeat, a first for the club.

This is KIU’s 4th Western Rugby title: 2016, 2017, 2025, 2026.

Next target: National League playoffs in May.

Rubirizi District’s rugby posted on their WhatsApp Channel that their ambitions have received a timely boost following a donation of rugby balls from brothers Joseph @aredo_jo & Gabriel @justred__o_O, aimed at strengthening grassroots development in the area 👏

Speaking during the handover, District Sports Officer Hakim Suna urged beneficiaries (schools & teams) to put the balls to immediate use & begin preparations for upcoming competitions.

Gabriel Aredo highlighted the importance of rugby in shaping discipline, unity & opportunity among young people, calling on the community to embrace the sport.

📌 Rubirizi District in Ankole region are also readying themselves for the establishment of a Kayangwe Age Grade Rugby Centre in the district 🔥👏

On Saturday, March 7, 2026, the defending Western region rugby champions, KIU Crows crushed Kigezi Silverbacks 48-06, marking their second consecutive win in the Men’s Regional XVs Championships.

This victory followed a 31-09 triumph over Tooro Lions on February 28.
