That's the 900 year old Bayeux Tapestry just arrived in the Freight Warehouse, ready for transporting to the British Museum for display. I had a sneak preview and it's absolutely magnificent.

This photo of mine - 'Patterns in the stubble' - has been shortlisted in the Australian Photography magazine monthly competition for May. The theme was 'Rural Life'. Pleased about this. Up against some nice photos so I doubt it'll go any further. But that's okay 🙂
My god, are Australian voters really this stupid? It doesn't matter how well Pauline Hanson polls for "Preferred PM" - she's a Senator. She'd have to resign, run and win a Lower House seat, and *then* win a majority at a federal election.
Jumped in the car and went to Mt Crawford Forest today. I was all set up to look for fungi with my macro lens but, as soon as I got there, the little birds came to greet me and I was pleasantly distracted. I got lots of shots of this scarlet robin.
Updating firmware watching Socceroos game. Software crashes. ChatGPT take: "If Australia score while we're waiting, I fully expect that to be interpreted as a sign from the firmware gods. Go the Socceroos! 🇦🇺 If the scanner survives the update, we'll count it as a double victory.
We see the tower of Jesus Christ illuminated for the first time!
The light show, starting from the base up to the illumination of the cross, culminated with a composition of lights guided by drones that traced the figure of Gaudí and the phrase “first love, then technique”.
There are only 236 of them left on Earth. Every single one has a name.
The kākāpō is the world's heaviest parrot - a mossy green, owl-faced bird the size of a small dog that cannot fly, may live to 90 years, and only breeds every 2 to 4 years when New Zealand's rimu trees produce enough fruit to trigger the urge.
Rats. Cats. Stoats. Humans clearing forests. The kākāpō never evolved to outrun any of them.
By 1995, 51 birds remained. Scientists, rangers, and Ngāi Tahu - the Māori people who have always known this bird as taonga, a treasure—evacuated every last one to predator-free islands.
Each bird got a transmitter. Each nest watched around the clock.
This past February 14th, the first kākāpō chick in four years hatched. They named her Tīwhiri. By spring, 59 chicks had been born.
236 birds. Every name known. Every nest watched.
Who's counting down the days until the rimu trees fruit again? 🦜
