@Beaudrybilly I have an i1231. Absolutely love it and the job it does. We do 1 pass in the fall at 3 inches just to cut root balls up and mix the chaff from the chopping corn head a little. Then 1 light pass in the spring.

@Campbellgrain We went from rolls to flails. Alfalfa has tested better digest ability. But we also cut higher and do not shave the ground. Can get really aggressive in conditioning if needed. Ours is set to the lowest setting and works great.

@farmerschneck @islandviewag The crazy part about this setup is we use exactly half the fuel in half the time with these mowers vs our old 16 foot New Holland 1441 mower. Would never go back.

@islandviewag We do spring triticale as a companion crop for our new seeding and chop it just before pollination. Yield is excellent and quality is good as well. 14% protein but we use it more so instead of straw.
