Congratulations Yuheng Wang for publishing his latest work on content-based image retrieval. This is the best system so far for retrieving images with similar diagnosis from a database. https://t.co/kaFZ7xEGfb
“The ability to diagnose and track hair loss with this technology could revolutionize patient care and outcomes,” says researcher @TimKamLee on his study that uses a dermatoscope mounted to a smartphone: https://t.co/5iklWiB2dO @VCHhealthcare@UBCDerm@ubcspph
Polarization speckle is information rich and simple to measure on the skin, but very difficult to analyze completely.
What if we used #DeepLearning ? https://t.co/F4gcTNKZmV
First author is my incredible colleague and fellow @BME_UBC PhD candidate Yuheng Wang.
! I have a new paper !

It's a more in-depth look at the development and theory behind our low-cost skin cancer detection probe.
I also have some stories to share on this. See more below.

This was a fun way to put together a conference presentation. Thank you for the chance to present at today's @UBCDerm Skin Research Day!
(Maybe I should invest in a second monitor)
Our @UBCDerm Skin Research Day also featured 18 "speed poster" videos - here's a super quick overview. For abstracts check out https://t.co/wcFMpY6TRP @UBCmedicine
The rate of newly diagnosed invasive #melanomas appear to have dropped in 2020 based on a review of pathology BC databases by Dr. Marie O'Connor. This was most likely a consequence of decreased in-office medical visits due to #COVID19. @UBCmedicine
We have flattened BC's curve together. And as we start to look ahead, we need to remain vigilant with hand hygiene, physical distancing, and staying home if you're ill. We've made headway, but we still have a lot of work to do -- together! #DoYourPartBC#COIVDBC
"We are at an important crossroads with our COVID-19 response. Every day counts, and every action you take makes a difference.”
This was the key message from today's #COVIDBC update.
Other updates include:
• 25 new cases of COVID-19, for a total of 1,724 cases in BC. +
We are at a critical point in our response to COVID-19. British Columbians are making a difference. What we are doing today is working – but we are not out of danger yet. We must keep it up. Every person in BC needs to work together to prevent the spread of COVID-19. #COVIDBC
Update: Perhaps the ink is worth it after all. Thank you @tfri_research!
Another big thank you to @HarveyLui for promoting #betterposter in our lab. Definitely a visual upgrade.
For those interested in my research, the paper behind this poster is here: https://t.co/YlY9fCgYWv
Just published! Special journal issue of Photodermatol Photoimmunol Photomed to commemorate the late Dr. Nikiforos Kollias, expert biophysicist who studied interactions between light and the skin. Wonderful scientist, colleague and mentor. https://t.co/AxyrcXZ9Nv
Congratulations to Dr. Sunil Kalia for receiving a prestigious Health Professional-Investigator Award from @msfhr (Michael Smith Fdn for Health Research). Dr @kaliaderm will be investigating novel optical methods for #skincancer detection & evaluation. https://t.co/FkNjJmdxv5
Paige has done amazing work with us this summer and made this beautiful poster for #CBR_researchday. Thank you to @CBR_UBC and @BME_UBC for the oppprtunity!
