Trump just had another full-blown senile meltdown: “We subsidize Canada with HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS or they cease to exist! Make them the 51st state! No tariffs!”
This isn’t “harsh but true.” This is deranged, economically illiterate, diaper-wearing ignorance from a guy who still can’t tell the difference between a trade deficit and foreign aid.
Facts he’s too lazy to Google:
There is NO “hundreds of billions” subsidy. Actual U.S. goods trade deficit with Canada? About $46 billion.
U.S. foreign aid to Canada? A laughable ~$250,000. That’s not a subsidy, that’s rounding error.
Canada sends us 61% of our oil imports — the lifeblood keeping American gas prices from exploding. They power our refineries, integrate our auto industry (jobs in Michigan, Ohio, everywhere), and supply lumber we actually need.
This is mutually beneficial trade, you clown — not welfare for “our cherished 51st state.” Canada is a sovereign G7 ally, NORAD partner, and has carried our defense load in actual wars while you were dodging the draft and tweeting.
Threatening to tariff them into oblivion one minute, then annex them like some tinpot dictator the next? That’s not “America First.” That’s weak, insecure bullying that insults our closest friend and shoots our own economy in the face.
Canada doesn’t need your “better military protection” or your low-tax fantasy. They have their own military, their own successful country, and zero interest in becoming another failed red state under your chaotic reign.
Stay the hell out of their business, Don. Your brain-dead rants don’t make America stronger — they make you look like the dumbest “genius” in history and risk torching the one relationship that actually matters.
Hands off Canada. Trade, not tantrums. Grow up.
Heartbroken by the passing of Shawn Simpson. A great friend to our Foundation and one of our brightest Dancing with the Docs judges, his loss is deeply felt. Sending condolences to his family and friends.
