What are the odds? This story gave me goosebumps:
"The pilot was standing around as I got out of my wheelchair to board my flight to Portland.
He followed me and the flight attendant who volunteered to carry my bag. As I flung myself into my seat, he quickly asks, "were you in the military." I replied "yes."
He said, "Afghanistan 2010?"
Again, although surprised this time, I said slowly "yessss."
He then told me that he recognized me, my injuries, and my face. He told me he never knew if I survived or not.
Marc Vincequere is his name.
He flys with United now. Crazy small world.
…He was the pilot that flew me out of Afghanistan."

.@SchoolAdmSD@RobMonson7 just asked those in the room - currently about 200 people- who oppose the proposed standards to please stand - over 75% of the room stood up.
We couldn’t be more proud of the SD educators who provided opponent testimony today - it was thoughtful, respectful and professional. It’s time for South Dakota’s leaders to respect professional expertise.

The BOES meeting has just begun in Aberdeen. The SS standards are one of the last things on the agenda. SASD is here in opposition and we have a very strong showing of administrators in the room.
@swalder7@sddoe Thank you Dr. Walder for your testimony today. I appreciated listening to your well-informed professional opinion. Your experience and educational leadership is valuable in this process.
