📌Collaboration is how Africa's social enterprise sector will thrive.
Ashoka East Africa has spent years backing systems-level entrepreneurs who are redesigning how social impact works across the continent.
Our formal partnership with them for the Pan-African Social Enterprise Summit 2026 will not only amplify the reach of the summit, but also open stronger pathways for funding, policy influence, and cross-border collaboration.
This means that more African-led enterprises get the visibility, mentorship, and ecosystem support they need to move from local impact to regional and continental scale.
PSES 2026 becomes less of an event and more of a launchpad, where partnerships form, resources unlock, and solutions that work on the ground get amplified across borders.
Real change doesn’t happen in silos. It happens when builders, funders, and policymakers decide to move together.

Yesterday, on 25th May 2026, we officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding with @ashokaea to partner on the Pan-African Social Enterprise Summit 2026.
The signing took place at the Ashoka East Africa offices in Nairobi, Kenya, marking the start of a powerful collaboration to make PSES 2026 the most impactful convening for social entrepreneurs on the continent.
We’re grateful to the entire Ashoka East Africa team, especially the Regional Director, Vicent Otieno Odiambo, for his leadership, vision, and commitment to making this partnership a reality. Thank you for championing collaboration and for the warm welcome extended to our team.
We also had the chance to connect with other changemakers in the room who shared insights on social entrepreneurship and contributed to making PSES 2026 a success.

@kyofakabuye2@FrankTumwebazek Actually it's You guys who may need to change your mindset and adjust to the 21st century. Your charity actions to vulnerable people isn't empowerment. The Arsenal supporters are complimenting government efforts to market Uganda. They are not merely asking for handouts

The launch, attended by students and distinguished university leaders, was filled with powerful insights and renewed commitment to youth-led innovation:
“When we talk about social enterprise, we must also talk about how to make it both impactful and profitable. It thrives on creativity, innovation, and responsiveness to the changing needs of communities.”
~ Dr. Eric Awich Ochen, Deputy Principal, CHUSS, Makerere University
“Social entrepreneurship goes beyond starting a business, it’s about identifying social challenges and creating solutions that directly impact communities. What makes it a true social enterprise is engaging society and responding to real needs.”
~ Dr. Cathy Ikiror Mbidde, Manager, Makerere University Technology and Innovation Centre (MUTIC)
David Luganda also shared about FUSE's pivotal role in supporting social enterprises across Uganda. He strongly encouraged students to utilize this great opportunity and actively join Mak-SEH, empathizing that participation will equip them with practical skills, mentorship, networks and real world experience to turn their ideas into impactful ventures.
Mugerwa Timothy, President of FUSE, emphasized FUSE’s strong support for the Campus Hubs and revealed plans to roll them out across universities in Uganda.
He challenged students to become job creators and not job seekers, using social entrepreneurship as a vehicle for sustainable impact and economic empowerment.
A big thank you to all the students, lecturers, and leaders who turned up and showed incredible enthusiasm. The movement has officially begun!
We are excited about the journey ahead as we nurture the next generation of social entrepreneurs at Makerere and beyond.
