The Advanced Review Copies have arrived for DUST OF THE EARTH. This is truly a dream come true for me! 🍇🍇Some vines grow slowly before they bear fruit . . . 🙂🙃 @myrmidonbooks@YorkLibrariesUK@RobOConnor26
What David fails to mention here is where the I$raeli soldiers were killed. Just for clarity they were in Lebanese sovereign territory as an invading/occupying force
Lebanon has the right to defend itself, enshrined in international law.
But David seems to think that I$rael should have the right to carry out killings and massacres with impunity and complains when its soldiers face resistance.
You couldn’t make it up.
Most of the Ukrainians I’ve actually sat down with here in Slovakia the ones we’ve welcomed into our country, helped find work, and who are trying to rebuild some kind of life want the war to end.
They don’t romanticize it.
They’re tired.
Many quietly say they feel used in a game much bigger than them. They see the interests at play. They want peace, even if it’s imperfect.
And even the ones with strong national feelings never pack their bags and head to the front.
Real people with real families tend to choose life when they have the choice.
Then you open your phone.
Suddenly the war must continue “until victory,” no matter the cost. The loudest voices come from people in Germany, Finland, the Netherlands, Czechia, the UK, the US basically the places where no conscription notices arrive at the door, no air raid sirens sound at night, and no one is burying sons this month.
They’re willing to fight to the last Ukrainian… from the safety of their living rooms.
This isn’t courage; it’s comfort speaking.
The people who will actually live with the consequences the mothers, the fathers, the young men who would have to die or be maimed mostly want the killing to stop.
The people demanding it must go on are usually the furthest from the graves.
I keep wondering what this reveals about us.
When we cheer for war from a safe distance, are we really supporting Ukrainians… or are we supporting our own need to feel morally right, no matter how many others have to pay for it?
If the people closest to the pain mostly want peace, but the people safest from it keep pushing for more fighting ... who are we actually listening to?
And more importantly: if you were the one who might have to send your own son, or go yourself… would your opinion change?
Read this slowly. Sit with it.
Then tell me honestly what you feel. No slogans. Just your real thoughts.
One of the craziest things about the UK rape gang scandal is that it's largely considered a 'right wing' concern.
In a sane, serious country, it would be completely bipartisan. In fact, it wouldn't even be seen as a political issue, but one of basic justice and morality.
The massive NATO-backed attack on Moscow demonstrates that our rulers have lost their minds. The reason for Russia's restraint is that once it retaliates against NATO, there will be no escalation control, and the conflict will likely spiral into nuclear war.
@DanielLDavis1@citizenjournos_@DanielLDavis1. Is it more likely that the continuing long range missile strikes into Russia (which can only be targetted via NATO satellites and use EU-provided weapons) make it more likely they will seek to occupy Odessa for deterance plus buffer zone plus to weaken Ukraine?
"When Trump insisted the war would only end with "unconditional surrender" it never crossed my mind he meant his own".
That's because you are stupid, Andrew. We knew how it would end.
The state is doing all it can to take possession of everything - all you have now and all you might need in the future. They would make it that you can have and do nothing but what they permit. This is the audacity of the state now.
As a mainstream journalist, I was sending you and other uk national papers, stories of vaccine death and injury as early as 2021. I was dismissed, ignored and blocked by several editors. Not one of my pitches was accepted and none of my stories were published. What I was saying five and a half years ago, you totally dismissed. I had the evidence and the case studies, people willing to speak out, go public, be identified, relatives of victims, people with the most horrific jab-induced illness… but you didn’t want to know. And now, instead of an apology, what do I get? More of the same. You didn’t like me being right in 2021 and you like it even less now. You @DailyMail are complicit in all that’s happened because you hid the truth from the public even when the truth was being handed to you on a plate by real and honest journalists like me. You should feel very ashamed.
Physical coin slots on parking meters are being systematically blocked off or ripped out across the UK
Instead, you are forced to download half a dozen buggy smartphone apps just to leave your car
If your battery dies or mobile signal drops, you are slapped with a brutal private fine
Many of these apps even charge a mandatory extra fee just to process the transaction
What is going on?
Human Rights Watch lists the UK alongside Tunisia, Sri Lanka, Türkiye, and India in terms of “the misuse of counterterrorism powers to stifle dissent” in the case of the terrorism ban on Palestine Action. https://t.co/rQXmT7g4ZS
"Environment Agency accused of 'lip-service' on sewage crisis after downgrading 96% of serious pollution incidents."
Yep you read that correctly, not only has the EA being allowing water companies to mark their own homework they've being joining in the fun down grading the most serious pollution incidents to get them off their books, close the files and hope no-one notices.
Well, they've been caught.

We are in the final stage of capitalism where global capital can’t expand or sustain past profits. It now consumes public institutions and key systems, sacrificing democracy, welfare, infrastructure, education, healthcare, and ecosystems for short-term gain.
I think this sums up the perfectly the direction of travel our country is heading 😭 or should I say we've already arrived . 😭 #authoritarianregime@BBCNews@SkyNews@itvnews@Channel4News any MSM reporting on the threats to our democracy? That would be a No then?
The sentencing of the Filton 4 as terrorists is a national disgrace and a profound threat to the civil liberties of all of us.

The social ban on under 16s is the diametric opposite of concern for kids welfare. So many teenagers rely on social media to communicate with their friends in the evenings. To take this away from them is vindictive.
If Starmer wants to effectively clean up inappropriate content on social media then he should discuss this with the social media companies rather than punish teenagers from communicating with their friends.
Starmer is once again using a virtue smokescreen to try and get what he really wants - a pathway to digital ID on social media - including adult verification. He is being horrendously manipulative here. And how dare he use the safety of children as the bait towards government controlled digital ID. Absolutely shameful.
▪️Say no to government controlled digital ID.
▪️Say no Checkpoint Britain.
▪️Say no to a ‘papers-please’ society on your phone that destroys privacy and freedom.
▪️Say no to government surveillance on every service you use, every place you go, or every transaction you make.
▪️Say no to the risk of another post office scandal / data breach waiting to happen
Britain has always rejected national ID cards. We fought too hard for liberty to hand it over for “convenience” or the illusion of “safety”.
This is about government control. We don’t need a government app on our phones to prove we exist. Britain must remain a free country - not a government owned database state. Because no one voted for this.
