NYT: The Herrera family hired Alina Habba, who had been one of Mr. Trump’s personal lawyers and at the time was an adviser at the Justice Department.
They offered her $10 million a year for four years along with a range of bonuses. In total, including bonuses, she was guaranteed more than $50 million over four years
Sister Nancy CONFRONTS JD Vance Over ICE’s Treatment of Immigrant Families — His Response Sparks Pushback
Speaker: We have a voter here tonight, Sister Nancy Sylvester, from the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Sister Nancy, she has a question for you.
Sister Nancy Sylvester: Mr. Vice President, our sisters work at the southern border and here around Detroit.
They see families affected by immigration policies and children separated from their parents, sometimes without warning. They witness the fear and trauma caused by ICE’s actions.
We understand this is a complex issue, but what pains us is how these policies are being implemented. We share the same faith, so how would you justify ICE’s behaviour to people who try to follow the Gospel?
And what policies would you support to ensure immigrants are treated with greater compassion and respect?
JD Vance: Sister Nancy, I appreciate you, and I hope I’ll be in your prayers, as you’ll certainly be in mine.
We’re trying to strike the right balance. When approximately 25 million undocumented immigrants have entered the country over the past 30 years, many unchecked and unvetted,
we have to enforce the law humanely without doing so little that we empower some of the worst people in the world.
Speaker: Are you striking that balance?
JD Vance: I think it’s constantly a work in progress. We’ve increased training protocols because, while most ICE officers are good people who want to protect their country, some make mistakes.
When they do, we have a responsibility to investigate and prosecute where appropriate.
Speaker: What mistakes come to mind? We’ve all seen incidents online, but I haven’t heard you speak about the biggest mistakes in ICE policy and its rollout.
JD Vance: There have been cases where we’ve conducted investigations, provided additional training, or taken disciplinary action. We don’t always publicise those cases because people should be judged through a proper investigative process.
But we also have to remember what happened over the last five years, including drug cartels trafficking children and the fentanyl trade that killed so many people in Michigan.
We wake up every day trying to balance law enforcement with humane enforcement. ICE won’t get everything right, but I believe its officers have, by and large, done a good job. Where people have made serious mistakes, they should face consequences.
BREAKING: The Dallas Morning News just announced they are endorsing James Talarico over Ken Paxton. The Dallas Morning News had previously endorsed Senator John Cornyn in every race he ever ran. This is amazing.
Pete Hegseth is an unqualified, incompetent, inept idiot who is putting our country and citizens in danger. Mike Johnson sent the House home 2 weeks early and not returning until after the election because the votes were there to impeach Kegsbreath.
Dan Rather spots trouble Trump can't avoid much longer: 'Subject is bound to come up'
“Most Americans don’t want to think about it, but in the background of these developments is this; Article lll, Section 3 of the Constitution defines TREASON against the United States as “levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.” By any objective
measure, lifting Russian sanctions is giving aid and comfort to an enemy,” Rather argued.https://t.co/UXn8UHjEAI
John Roberts’ greatest hits:
2010: votes to let unlimited corporate money flood our elections
2013: guts the Voting Rights Act
2024: hands presidents immunity for official acts
That’s not a judge. That’s a demolition crew with a lifetime contract.
North Carolina A&T students marched an hour each way to vote on the first day of early voting after their campus polling site was removed by the Guilford County Elections Board. Proud 👏🏽
She absolutely went out of her way to intentionally mislead the viewers in every segment that she was an experienced lawyer who had practiced law. Nobody with half a brain can watch this and think otherwise. She’s a fraud, which makes her perfect for a senior Trump appointment.
SIX MILLION DOLLARS VANISHED FROM THE KENNEDY CENTER AND DONALD TRUMP'S OWN PEOPLE ARE EATING EACH OTHER ALIVE OVER IT
Alina Habba walks into the Oval Office and tells Trump that Ric Grenell — his own handpicked Kennedy Center boss — never deposited a $5.6 million donation from her billionaire husband
Trump goes nuclear. Orders an internal inquiry on the spot. Furious, according to people in the room
Here's the part that should make you sick. The money was never a straight donation. It was allegedly routed through a $17.6 million commercial deal first, with $5.6 million of it supposed to trickle down to the Kennedy Center
The Kennedy Center's own books show nothing like that. The former finance chief says the only entry tied to this donor is a $270,000 debt, not a six million dollar gift
So somewhere between a billionaire's wire transfer and a federally-subsidized arts institution with Trump's name bolted onto the front, millions of dollars just evaporated
Nobody can say where it went. Nobody can say who has it. Nobody can even agree it ever really existed on paper
This is the institution Trump personally rebranded while ticket sales and donations were already cratering. Now it's not even scandal from outside enemies — it's his own appointees accusing each other of disappearing millions behind closed doors
Grenell says nothing. Habba says Grenell buried it. Trump says investigate. Taxpayers still subsidize the building while this plays out
They turned a national cultural institution into a grift so sloppy they can't even keep their own story straight
This is what "running government like a business" actually looks like — the business is missing six million dollars and nobody's calling the cops
