Mike Valenti's full rant on Sam Laporta's podcast interview:
"First thing's first. On basis, it could be any player in any town & this would be my basic advice -- read the f'ing room. You're average costumer can't afford to put groceries on the table. No one cares about your plight, Sam. Sorry. You get millions to play a kid's game, and as you said, you're going to get paid regardless. Sam -- do yourself a solid. You said your agent handles most of it. If that take is brewing and I have no problem that it is -- tell your agent. Tell your wife. Tell your mom. Tell your inner circle. You can't go public with that. You just saw what happened with Jalen Duren who didn't talk but just wanted his money. Now what do you think it sounds like for fans when they see the last part of if i don't get to wear the Honolulu blue -- whatever. Buddy, what are you doing? And i'll say it again -- read the room. This is the problem. This is where athletes get it wrong. Nobody cares about your problems. You don't have problems. Not like the people who watch you. The only reason you exist, Sam, are the very people who can't afford to buy a home. They can't afford their car payment. They can't afford to live right now ... And then at the end of it you're flippant? Ahh, if I don't get to dawn the jersey -- whatever, I'll get paid somewhere else. Dude. Hope it felt good in the moment because that's a lose-lose. I'm not telling Sam Laporta don't feel that way internally. You can't verbalize that. Do it to your agent. Tell your wife. Tell your friends. You can't do that, because now here's what happens. You will get people who previously liked Sam Laporta who now are going to rage & say trade this guy. You can't in a city like Detroit make that comment. And here's the other thing I would say to him. Oh yeah alright you'll get paid somewhere else that's great, that's great, that's great. Where is a better situation than here exactly? In this offense with the relationship with the QB you have. With a team that's going to win most years. Alright, do me a favor go wear the powder blue in Tennessee. Because it's just whatever, right? See that's my other problem with this & then i'll shut up ... This is what really pisses me off. Wearing the uniform of this team should matter. The Lions have built something here where it should start to matter. Years past it didn't matter. Wearing the Honolulu blue didn't mean anything. That wasn't like wearing a Steelers helmet or Chiefs helmet. But Rico, this is something that we can accept one thing. We're upset that the Lions don't go all-in. But the one thing we can't be upset about is every year I'm pretty comfortable saying they're gonna win 10 games & that these fans will bleed for you. These fans will show up & they'll go into debt to watch you play. And for you to go out there on a pod and that's your take? No. No. It just doesn't work. You gotta read the room, dude. ... Go ahead, take New Orleans' money and play down there next year. Cause it's just whatever, right?"
Hurley on MSU: "They have everything you need to be a national championship contender. Just right now, they gotta figure out that center spot. We got our own shit that we gotta figure out, because that wasn't exactly a fucking Oppenheimer performance."
@MommaHall2U@coachfitz51 Loved the battle yesterday. Things just feel different this year. Injuries to a team thin on take this tough. But we saw a lot of guys step up and make a late yesterday
