The economic and social impacts made by WPA in WW1, the worst war of their time, is inspiring. Doing so they gained support for suffragists in a society that repeatedly ridiculed them. It's a timeless message that good often comes from the darkest of times. #gs1000w2082
@mackenzieoc1 To me, it's worth even more than that. Unpaid labour, particularly care work, is priceless. Men should be doing just as much unpaid labour as women. They should be able to pull their own weight and help care for their families. #gs1000w2082
Similar to how Jackson Katz says gender violence is a men's issue, actor Terry Crews has spoken out multiple times against toxic masculinity. How society and social pressure can cause men to become poor in character, such as in this video https://t.co/rDwCv0AXNU

Winnie Byanyima is right when she says caring for other takes time, energy, and resources. Caring for other is a time consuming and exhausting job. My family is large and kind enough to help each other in child and elderly care, but many people don't have this luxury #gs1000w2082
@lcpatey It's a sad truth that European settlers have caused the circumstances that drove Aboriginal people to desperation, and then blame them for daring to survive. A major reason for the settler's decimation of buffalo herds was to "destroy the Indian's commissary" #GS10002082
Doctors not taking women's health seriously has impacted a friend of mine. She's had serious pain for years, but when she went to a clinic or the hospital, she was told it wasn't serious and she was overreacting. Turns out, a medical issue went undiagnosed for years #gs1000w2082
@_morgankirby_ It's unfair to blame people over their weight without any knowledge of their life and situation. Along with socioeconomic and ability factors, side effects of medication for completely unrelated health reasons can seriously increase a patient's weight gain.

Some people base health by BMI, having a high BMI indicates being overweight and inactive. This isn't an accurate measure of health, as those with a high BMI can still be physically active and healthy, supported by studies in this article.

I am happy to learn about Viola Desmond, but it's disheartening that I hadn't heard about her before this year. It seems Canada benefits from African American racism in the United States, not acknowledging the issue as much because "we aren't as bad as those guys" #gs1000w2082
It's interesting how acceptable homosexuality and and gender fluidity were in the past, particularly in Hinduism.. This link shows a summary of Hindu attitudes towards homosexual and gender fluid people and deities.

@KaelieOake Kids are smarter than a lot of people give them credit for, especially when they're exposed to a variety of situations and people early on. I see people ask "how do I explain homosexuality to my kid?", it's simple, use words. It's another form of love, kids will understand that.
Is spectrum the right term to use when talking about one's gender identity? I think of a spectrum as a multicolored line, varied but linear. It seems to me that a web is a more accurate analogy, with multiple branches and strands that make up a person's identity #gs1000w2082
@BlakeCollins100 As males I don't think we should take pride in being feminists, simply because that's what we should be. It's like taking pride in helping someone who asks for help, we shouldn't take pride in doing what's right and just, because it's the right and just thing to do. #GS1000W2082
I'm disgusted by the unfair treatment of women in economic and social issues. The only thing that upsets me more is the treatment of women of color, like the differing pay gap between white men and women of ethnicities examined in this article #GS1000W2082
