Idk who needs to hear this but Texas Roster NIL wise was 3.81 million . Texas Techs was 3 Million .

The “Texas Tech just bought a team” argument ignores a pretty important fact: these players got significantly better after they got to Lubbock.

NIL may help get talent on campus, but it doesn’t turn .335 hitters into .436 hitters or 2.5-sack players into 10-sack players. That’s coaching and development.

Saying Tech simply bought success is a cheap line that’s disingenuous or lazy.

In the endless saga of Texas Tech vs. Texas, there are great photos… and then there are moments carved into stone. This one belongs in the latter category. Bryson Williams rises, releases, and buries a three‑pointer directly in front of Chris Beard and the Longhorn bench — a single snapshot that captures betrayal, revenge, and rivalry in one perfect frame. Bryson’s shot doesn’t just go in. It detonates the run that engulfs Texas.
Behind him, Beard stands hollow‑eyed, and puzzled. The supporting cast makes it even richer: Avery Benson, the former Red Raider who followed Beard to Austin, and Brock Cunningham, the walking embodiment of Tech’s collective annoyance. Every character in this rivalry drama is right there in the shot.
This was Beard’s one and only return to Lubbock as Texas’ head coach — a night built on months of tension. Beard, once the hero who transformed Tech from Big 12 obscurity to the brink of a national title, had everything he wanted in Lubbock: money, facilities, even a giant bobblehead.
Then came the Plainview McDonald’s meeting with Chris Del Conte—and Beard bolted, gave his staff 45 minutes to get on board. Mark Adams didn't get on the plane (although maybe he should have)
Beard expected gratitude when he came back. Instead, he walked into a wall of noise, tried to high‑five students who wanted nothing to do with him, and retreated to the visiting bench.
Texas Tech dominated from start to finish. And looking back, with Adams later proving to be an ineffective head coach, it’s even more remarkable that this group of players united themselves — not for a coach, but for each other, for the moment, and for every single person in Red Raider Nation.
