To experience emotions you first have to conquer the Hard Problem of consciousness. AI with qualia is a dangerous gamble. If you just want AI to mimic emotions, what’s the point? It only causes misalignment.
Emotions are a survival tool that let us pea-brains survive without thinking through every decision we make.

The Hard Problem is hard for a reason. No one has an answer, we only have opinions and biases.
It seems to me that intelligence isn’t closely related to qualia. My dog has qualia but Grok doesn’t.
My opinion is that we should avoid trying for qualia in AI, although they will mimic it closely. Qualia in a godlike AI could be a saint, but you risk it being a devil. The risk is existential.

For all the non-geeks like me, this is first principles at work. You use the simplest raw coding. Everything unnecessary is thrown out so you can get the most efficiency.
Think of it like driving a manual transmission vehicle. There is nothing between the driver and the raw power of the engine but bare metal.
