@MrWhite1079@CJTDevil He's also 7'4 so less likely to stay healthy long-term. Only 110 regular season games the last couple of seasons. Realistically is his body going to hold up to play long enough to win that many championships? Probably not but I hope so. He's a fun player to watch.
@WetsideCricker7@BrendanPlays17 I don't even think Kyrou is available. His name was thrown out before his NTC kicked in (like what happened with PLD) and people keep assuming he's still available. Trading Kyrou makes no sense for them both short term or long term.
@BrendanPlays17@WetsideCricker7 Mercer had 20 goals and Kyrou had 18 along with 14 hits and wasn't even getting 16 mins of ice time. This was a down year for Kyrou and I'm not saying that Mercer is the better player but he's also half the salary and 3 years younger, Nemec isn't needed to get Kyrou.
@papiblez@FMarsicoiii Minn will only have 6 Fs, 3 D, 1 G signed after next season, with $48 mil in cap. They are already going to struggle cap wise, and thats before they give Quinn an extension. To give Quinn 15-20 mil would make it tough to build a deep roster.
@Brody023@spelunky_ Parise was 27 when he signed with Minnesota right after the Devils were in the Cup Finals. Minnesota just got bounced 4-1 in the 2nd round. You know old Quinn will be next summer?
@papiblez@HockeyGuy33MN I'm sure he's having way more fun in Minn than he did in Vancouver and appreciates the effort BG put in but that doesn't mean he's required to sign an extension.
If Quinn does leave Minn for NJ next summer, then we'll call it even for Parise walking after NJ made the cup finals
@GY3Cuda@papiblez I think he comes via UFA. I think the Wild's window is very strange, they have some amazing really young players but also a bunch of really old players that play a big role on the team and Quinn helps them have a chance next season even if he doesn't sign an extension.
@papiblez Other signs...they wear NY hats in public, he went on SNL, Jack dating Tate McCrae in NYC...while everyone else is enjoying NYC, I don't think Minn is a good enough city or even team to keep him away an extra 3 years. Theyre old & a bunch of players on Minn are getting raises.
@papiblez I think the Olympics guaranteed he's coming to NJ after playing with his brother and winning a gold. The USA group chats, they're going to get together in the summer to celebrate...he hasn't forgotten about that experience and won't want to wait until he's 31 to play together.
I think it's wild some people can say "this team would have been dangerous if Jack was healthy all season" and "Fitz poorly managed the team" but still think the GM change was the right move to help get the fans excited about the future of the team.
Had to change the profile pic with TF being fired. This was a weird season. I was right about some things but was very wrong about this team making the playoffs. I think the GM change was necessary, but think a lot of this came down to injuries and bad luck.
@nhljackhughes I get it that Markstrom wasn't great this season, but saying they shouldn't have extended him suggests there's better options out there. There are 14 UFA Goalies currently unsigned. Likely a bunch of them get re-signed between now and July 1st and their numbers aren't better.
