The amount of rainfall recorded today is among the highest experienced in several years. Preliminary data indicates that approximately 140 millimetres of rain fell on Accra. By comparison, the highest single-day rainfall recorded last year was about 56 millimetres.

That aspect of the problem is beyond our control because it is driven by changing climatic conditions. There is the issue of human behaviour.

Whenever government begins removing structures built in waterways, some people accuse us of being inhumane. Yet when disasters such as today's flooding occur, the consequences affect everyone. The irresponsible actions of a few individuals end up putting entire communities at risk.

@kwesiprattjr Yes please. The simple answer is once a Ghanaian always a Ghanaian. And if their lives are in danger from death threats and others, our duty is to protect our own. Their families are here and they pay taxes. Rescuing an asylum seeker for their family is a no brainer.

@barkervogues When I was young I use to get excited when Europeans or Americans would immediately send flights to pick up their citizens anywhere once they sense the least unrest or risk to their lives. It feels good to be able to do same for our people too. Big ups to the foreign ministry.

@JoyPrimeTV This could be evidence of a possible attack on freedom of speech which is protected by the constitution. I believed this was an abuse of prosecutorial powers by powerful people who are well connected. We shall follow the issues keenly, especially the usage of the ECA.

@KwesiHubert I think that Ghanaians should realize that, they may end up saving more, if they hired and paid a lawyer even for consultation. Looking at the money she paid the man, that same money could have paid a lawyer, and she'd have authority of the court to involve the police and POM.

@seth_doe22 2/2 ... if the judge can make such an unfounded claim, doesn't the judge also know that, a divorced woman after giving their lives in marriage amount to detriment to themselves and their ability to remarry and even possible lost opportunities... The judge went too far...
