Really wish people would stop running with narratives like this. The most likely scenario is Punk has been penciled in for Summerslam. They saw a chance to get the belt onto Sami as a nod to the work he did then got it onto Punk at Summerslam.

Still entirely possible they get it back on him at Mania, like the original reports indicated and that this moment is a pushing point for the character to further evolve. But no, lets just run with the worse version of the story because it'll make people mad. Dave sucks.

And this is what the reign is about. It's entirely possible he finds his way back to gold again. But you can't take the fact that he's earned it, even if it was for a small moment.

I really respect the career of this guy. He earned his place in the history books. It never needed to be long. It just needed to happen.
