This is when my youngest brother first left the Amish and became a police officer. Can you see the proud look on my face? I was very proud of him to find the courage to reach out to me to pick him up and leave the Amish, but then I became even more proud of him when he told me that he wanted to be a cop to help those that can’t help themselves, just the same way the cops showed up when our Amish father was out of control and started to go in a rage, and we ran to the English neighbors to borrow their phone to call 911 to save mom and the rest of the siblings from getting hurt too bad, and those cops became his hero at a young age, so now he is leaving to become that same hero to other children that are living in fear because of the childhood trauma and the bad things that are happening in their homes. I will be honest and tell you that I doubted that he would meet this goal of becoming a police officer because we only had an eighth grade Amish education and I also struggled with getting my GED and then my CDL, and I kind of viewed the schooling and testing to be way too hard for an Ex-Amish like us to be able to accomplish or achieve these requirements. But like everything else my brother proved me wrong and went right through the classes and passed every test so easily, and then eventually became a local police officer in the same county where we were born and raised, and now has moved on to be a sheriff deputy in Wyandot County, Ohio. Of course, when we told our mother about his accomplishments, she broke down crying because the strict conservative old order Amish believe that you must always turn the other cheek and never be in a position to defend the public with a deadly weapon or to protect yourself with a deadly weapon, so therefore she told my youngest brother never to come to her funeral when she dies if he is going to take a position like a police officer, but yet the police officers always came to the rescue when my mom was being beaten and almost killed. Just shows how religious deception can damage a person mentally where you cannot even think common sense anymore. She should’ve been proud of him rather than rejecting him because my brother is now in a position to help others the same way the cops came and helped her and us children when we were growing up with a out of control father 😭😭🙏🙏
If you are as proud of my brother, as I am, please let him know in the comments to encourage him because I’m so proud of him, and quite frankly, he has become a role model that I look up to, even though I am much older than him, he still encourages me to go after dreams and goals and not give up and not doubt myself to meet those accomplishments and goals.
