And yes, this cuts across eligible families regardless of immigration status.

A miner works harder than many CEOs.

A cleaner may work longer hours than a software engineer.

Difficulty matters.

But scarcity, leverage, responsibility and the value you create usually matter more.

I remember applying for a Customer Care job at MTN Nigeria 🇳🇬.

They asked for my:
🎓 BSc
🎓 Master's
📜 NIM

I submitted everything.

Why do I need all these just to work in Customer Care? 🤔

Maybe that's part of the problem with our job market.

Nigerians were so much obsessed with acquiring certifications up and down.

I have BSc, Master's, a college certificate in Business and Supply Chain. There are some I can’t remember.

One is how the iconic “This is Sparta!” line came to be.

In Frank Miller’s original graphic novel (and the film’s script), Leonidas delivers the line in a stern, relatively calm way.

Gerard Butler tried a few takes like that, but they lacked impact.

On one take he just went for it and yelled the line at full volume.

Zack Snyder loved it immediately, had him do it again, and that shouted version is the one that made it into the movie and became one of the most meme’d moments in film history.

This scene in the post you all are watching, that’s if anyone gets to read up to this point (the confrontation with the Persian emissary) builds right into that moment, so yeah 👍 it’s extra fun knowing the yell was basically Butler’s spontaneous amp-up that stuck.

I recently got an offer for a Head role with a ₦450k salary. But when I compared it to where I currently work, I realized I’d be spending hours on the road every Monday to Friday just to get there.

Considering leaving a job where my boss doesn’t even require all my professional certifications, nah 👎

But then it hit me…

omo, na there I truly understood the value of having a boss who trusts what’s on your head rather then certificates to accept you work both onsite and remotely.

Opay really understood the market.

Back in 2019, they were selling plates of food in Lagos for as low as ₦10 through OPay Food. That aggressive customer acquisition strategy got people using the app at scale.

When you understand your market and execute well, growth is almost inevitable.
