The biggest story of the week was the currency manipulation story.

I expected that to be the front page focus of Sunday Times, City Press, Mail & Guardian and Daily Maverick.

I expected leading chartered accountants to drive this story on every social media platform. Why is this story not being given the same focus as other corruption scandals.

If Paul Mashatile was accused of the things these banks have done, it would be a daily drum beat on every radio, tv and newspaper. There would be podcasts and documentaries on showmax.

I expected the same explainers, charts and spider web things I saw for the VBS scandal. It bothers me that the corruption of these banks has been made a smaller story than it is. I expected more than brief attention.

Are the media houses conflicted because they take lots of money from these banks for advertising and go to golf events hosted by these banks?

This reminds me of how the Glencore corruption story was downplayed in South African media while the company was paying admission of guilt fines in the USA and UK for bribing African leaders and manipulating African markets.

The Glencore corruption scandal was downplayed even though Glencore has large operations in South Africa and even though Glencore has and had very cozy relations with very powerful men in national politics.

The Glencore story was not given the same attention because it proved State Capture outside of what the Zondo commission wanted to talk about and outside of the Zuma narrative.

@adziemudzunga I understand their trying to keep the food warm for the customer, or is it they raised customer expectations and now are stuck chasing the clock 🤷🏽‍♂️. .
..when you order your food, there is a time frame of which I doubt runs out if they just collect the order & drop it off..
