@Timi_Amusan@Poetry_London@Timi_Amusan@malorieblackman just retweeted you! I know you will so be very proud. Thank you Malorie, you are huge inspiration to all my students, all of whom have read your books, often many times, and love them.
Timi @Timi_Amusan is in his second term at uni now: incredible when you think he came to the UK when he was 15 with basic English. He sent me this moving poem about the family he had to leave behind in Nigeria. You can read more in @Poetry_London
'I’m scared that things I fear where I came from, I no longer fear,
Now I fear new things that are not scary.
And that scares me.'
Timi just sent me a new poem about learning to live with kindness. He's 19 and from Nigeria.
End of decade thread for Timi, @Timi_Amusan . In 2010 Timi was growing up in Nigeria, but his parents were both working in the UK. So he was fostered, without a permanent home.
Even though @Timi_Amusan left school and is at uni now, but I still get emails headed 'Timi poem'. This one took my breath away. Timi's 19 and from Nigeria.
