The only value of this sleazy, gaudy spectacle has been to highlight the real role of US corporate media: part of the royal court, courtiers of it.
That's why they can't include Assange on their list of persecuted journalists: it's done by the King, whom they can't displease:
It's just a tough situation, with victims on both sides. On one side you've got people being slaughtered in droves by genocidal massacres and siege warfare, while on the other you've got people whose feelings get hurt when these atrocities are opposed. Hard to say which is worse.
Ukraine funding bill just passed with Democrats UNANIMOUSLY voting YES. After 2+ years of pointless carnage with no end in sight, not a SINGLE Dem in the entire House of Representatives has any misgivings about US war policy. A remarkable display of brain-dead partisan conformism
I guess I should pin this tweet: My view is that the Trump Administration and Biden Administration were both giant disasters in their own special ways, and you and I are under no obligation to spend the next seven months brainlessly cheerleading for a sequel to either of them
A govt that spies on, bribes & blackmails US politicians and backed a guy who raped & trafficked US kids on an industrial scale is about to ethnically cleanse the inhabitants of Gaza it hasn't killed yet, who are mostly kids, and some Americans still call them "our greatest ally"
Right-wing media has claimed for years that Democrats and Biden are in the pocket of China, utterly captive to and controlled by it.
Yet Biden and most Dems favor banning of TikTok or forced sale.
Anyone tried to reconcile this, or wondered if there's another motive in play?
I also think one of the other reasons Steve Mnuchin wants to buy TikTok is part of the broader effort to turn social media sites into banks. Musk bought Twitter for that purpose, Facebook tried via Libra/Diem, Latin America's Facebook equiv was bought by a crypto company etc.
Another 50 Palestinians were just massacred while awaiting aid in Gaza. Is there anything more depraved than deliberately starving millions of people, then opening fire on the desperate crowds amassing to seek food?
@piccolan @OLightworker But my speculation is based on observation. 1) voting is not helping the masses and is performative theater for entertainment value promoting a new oligarchy and 2) lack of voting has raised the alarms of int'l agencies in the past
Voting giving legitimacy is undeniable
@piccolan @OLightworker Purely speculative on your part and it flies in the face of what we know from other elections in other countries.
Your issue is that you have been programmed to vote and to participate and you do it w/o critical thought.
You are playing your role in political THEATER not politics
@Wendys your app isn't working and hasn't worked for months for me so I called, currently waiting 20 minutes and counting on the phone
You clearly do not care about your customers
@USA_Over_Party @OLightworker Do you know the story of Eugene Debs?
Do you know FDR interred Japanese? Turned the country over to the MIC?
That is what the vote got you.
