I was afraid you'd lean towards this thought... We cannot overlook the obvious cause of the deterioration, which is inadequate and regular maintenance.
I don't think restricting access is the right solution, especially when all students pay for sporting activities. At the end of the day, what is likely to happen is that certain competitions, such as the Unilorin League, will be prioritised, and the intensity of usage during those competitions is and can be greater than how any department or faculty would use the pitch for a final.
More importantly, it reduces the sense of belonging for students who genuinely love football. Some students may never get the opportunity to play in the Main Bowl except through departmental league finals or similar events, yet they have contributed towards the provision and maintenance of these facilities.
Yes, frequency and intensity of use matter because they contribute to deterioration. But they should be managed through proper maintenance and scheduling, especially that SCHEDULING..we know as e be for here...
