I’ve been silently watching how some of you have bullied my small sister, for nothing more than existing in her body. I’ve seen the tweets, the cruel comments, and the constant judgment of her weight. It’s heartbreaking to watch people tear someone down, especially when they don’t know the full story.
Jane was born this way. She’s always been this size. All of the so-called “advice” you’re offering her about what she should be doing, she’s already tried it. Your words don’t help. They harm.
What’s worse is that many of you seem to forget the impact your words have. The mental health toll that comes with constant body shaming is real, and it's devastating. Jane has struggled with her confidence for a long time, but she’s learned to love and appreciate herself. Her journey to self-acceptance has not been easy, and it certainly hasn’t been helped by people like you who hide behind screens to spew hatred for the sake of clout.
Important to understand most people who feel the need to criticize others' bodies are likely struggling with their own. So, before you decide to tear someone down, maybe take a moment to reflect on why you feel the need to hurt others. We all have our battles.
I’m proud of my sister, and I know she’ll rise above this. But not everyone has the same strength, what you say to them matters.
Before you judge someone based on their appearance, consider what you’re really trying to achieve. Are you contributing to someone’s growth, or are you just chasing clout?
