The commander of the Parachute Regiment on Bloody Sunday, Leiutenant Colonel Derek Wilford, has died.

He died on Friday, aged 90.

He was the officer directly in charge of the paratroopers and always maintained that his soldiers were fired on first and were doing their duty.
