We elected him to unseat a powerful Democrat, Tom Daschle, in 2004. So he's been there 22 years . But we elected him on the idea that Daschle had become too much a creature of DC. Now Thune's become one. Why he won't get SAVE across the finish line is mystifying. He'd be a national hero, given its wide support. He's serving something other than the people's agenda.
@PolitiBunny One could say that it is a violation of basic decency to abandon your suffering neighbors to go get free stuff for just you in another country.
“Get the hell outta here.”
This is the attitude that our elected officials have for Republican voters — contempt.
“I’m the assh@le saying you can’t come in.”
If you know anyone in South Dakota, please show them this video.
I never ask you to make things viral.
@SwipeWright@IndigoLea We need a new descriptor other than "educated." The stupidity and indoctrination is manifest. "Subsidized post high school persons" or something that sounds like their own slogans.
@CynicalPublius I'm beginning to think that my Cold War service was an effort to keep Europe safe from Russian invasion until the Europeans could decide on means of suicide.
The Beatitudes are the most quoted, least understood words Jesus ever spoke.
8 statements. Each one begins "Blessed are."
Each one names a kind of person the ancient world considered anything but blessed.
This is not a feel-good list. It is a complete reversal of how human beings have always measured a good life.
Here's what each one actually means. 🧵
"Recently, Pfc. Erman Fountain was on a flight over the Red Sea when some trouble came along. The aircraft had to ditch. Flight Clerk Fountain, under orders from the pilot, took charge of all the cabin passengers. He was the last of 14 people aboard to get out of the ship; all survived." From a 1945 (US Army) Air Force magazine. BTW dad hated his given name Erman and went by Al, from his middle name Alvan. Yes, spelled that way. He was from the Ozarks. Special that in a time when millions died, dad was decorated for saving a few.
Worst Recruiting Evah! https://t.co/bE7Ilfom5z “Oh, for Christ’s sake!” — an impious outburst of annoyance one might hear in reaction to this Gospel. And of course it is the literal reason Jesus gives for the indignities his first followers would endure, and which afflict his own in various times and places since… for my sake…for my name’s sake.
@realBrandonGill@greg_price11 I posted the report on my social media, where progressive friends are seldom loathe to push back. There's been no engagement. I think they know. And are contributing their silence to protect narratives.
