In ancient Aramaic the constellation Orion was known as Nephila (ܢܦܝܠܐ, Nəphīlā’).

The Hebrew word Nephilim (נְפִילִים) appears in Genesis 6 & Numbers 13.

So...

If Nephila means Orion, Nephilim likely means:

"Those of Orion" / "Orionites" / "Descendants of Orion"

Ancient Egyptians identified Orion with Osiris and the Great Pyramids of Giza are aligned with Orion's Belt.

Some Hebrew traditions associated Orion with Kesil (“the mighty one”), mentioned in the Book of Job and Amos.

Syriac and Aramaic traditions linked Orion with giants and heroic figures, including traditions surrounding Nimrod.
