So, one million copies of the Holy Bible are to be distributed across Nigeria in honour of Barrister Seyi Tinubu.
Now, let’s pause. Not to attack religion, far from it, but to ask a simple, honest question: What does Nigeria truly need right now? What problems will a million Bibles solve in our country today?
We are a country where the average person is struggling to feed. Where hospitals lack basic drugs. Where public schools barely function. Where insecurity keeps farmers off their lands, driving food prices through the roof.
So, I have to ask again: what will a million Bibles solve today?
Don’t misunderstand me. The Bible is sacred, a timeless book of wisdom and comfort. But we are not short of Bibles in this country. We are short of living out its teachings.
How many more Bibles do we need before corruption stops? Before compassion returns? Before justice and truth mean something again?
Distributing Bibles is not the same as distributing hope. Hope today looks like jobs, affordable food, working hospitals, a power supply that doesn’t blink like a dying candle, and leadership that listens.
If the goal is to honour someone, then let that honour build something lasting.
Imagine instead:
One million schoolbooks for children in rural areas.
One million meals for the hungry.
One million seedlings for farmers.
One million scholarships or business grants for young people who can’t afford to dream anymore.
That would preach a louder gospel than any printed page ever could.
Nigeria doesn’t need more symbols of faith,we need the substance of it. Feed the hungry. Clothe the poor. Heal the sick. Empower the youth. That’s what the Bible itself teaches.
So, yes, distribute Bibles if you must. But understand this: faith without works is dead, and in a nation gasping for life, what we need are not more pages of scripture but actions that reflect its spirit.
That’s the real way to honour anyone, not with printed paper, but with purpose.
