If you can’t find your councillors, engage the local MP so that he finds them for you, and that he also does something about this problem @tinashe85130221
You see, this is what I meant when I said don’t choose public office candidates in your political parties based only on popularity, but based on craft competence and a track record of them having done something in their lives that they would transfer to council as a way of giving back to the community.
Again I refer to the 1980s, councillors were supposed to own a property in the area where they were a councillor, and on top of that they were supposed be a professional or businessman or woman.
They must have done something self evident of substance in their lives before they became a councillor.
But today you get insulted by some opposition supporters for saying these key things that are important to political leadership and public office administration.
Engaging in constructive public dialogue on this issue will help raise awareness about the importance of qualities desired in political leaders and public office without which we will continue complaining yet we are part of the problem.
Don’t complain when you see heaps of rubbish like this, you chose these leaders and in most cases, you chose them against the advice to select and elect based on competence and not just popularity.
Both CCC and ZANUPF also had candidates imposed on the basis of their proximity to the leader, this creates these kinds of situations you are seeing where something as simple as rubbish is left unattended throughout the holiday season.
This is what creates cholera and this is what will kill many of the voters who make these stupid mistakes based on party emotional loyalty to useless people who would have bought their way into public office.
Leadership decisions are impacting essential services negatively across Zimbabwe, we should all learn from this in order not to repeat the same mistakes again in 2028, but sadly we keep repeating the same mistakes of electing people who are not fit for public office.
America’s third president Thomas Jefferson said it better when he said;
“The government you elect is the government you deserve.”
Nothing more, nothing less!
Thomas Jefferson's point highlights the truthfulness of the fact that the electorate plays a significant role in shaping the government through the choices it makes from party primary elections.
This is a Learn or Perish moment for all Zimbabweans!
