The community of Sioux Falls grew by an estimated 5,007 people in 2023. This marks a 2.4 percent increase in the population, now at an estimated total of 213,891 people. Population growth was slightly higher in the record-setting years of 2021 and 2022, at 6,750 people or 3.5 percent and 6,284 people or 3.1 percent, respectively. We also had a strong year of building permit valuations in 2023, exceeding $1.1 billion and marking the second-highest valuation total ever at $1,115,671,406. Our strong 2023 numbers are evidence of how great Sioux Falls is to live, work, play, start a business, and raise a family. Onward into ‘24! #OneSiouxFalls

It’s a sad day today. I woke up to the news of Jimmy Buffett’s passing. His music has been the soundtrack to my life. Spending a lot of my childhood in South Florida, he was the epitome of a free spirit and lived a lifestyle that we all admired and strived to emulate. My dad was a huge fan of his and his music was always playing in our house, so when I started playing guitar, it was a no brainer that I would learn songs like A Pirate Looks at Forty, Come Monday and Havana Daydreaming among others. You inspired a lot of us Jimmy and you will forever be remembered. RIP brother 🦜
