Refugee families belong together.
Yet, many are kept apart by conflicts, lack of access and other challenges.
On #DayOfParents, we call on States to make family reunification procedures for refugees accessible, simple and fast.
UNHCR is ready to help.
In Eswatini, UNHCR and partners met with refugees at the Malindza Refugee Reception Centre to better understand their needs, challenges and assess livelihoods activities.
The team also visited the #Ndzevane Land Project, where livelihood activities are supporting refugees to earn an income and promote self-reliance, while fostering dignity and economic inclusion. @EswatiniGovern1@Refugees

Since April 2023, the Sudan war has forced millions of people on the move. Three years on, many are still caught in a repeated, exhausting cycle of flight to safety, only to flee again.
Without peace and support, the suffering and risks will only grow.

Leaving Chad, I am deeply grateful to UNHCR teams doing lifesaving work every day.
I also carry profound appreciation for the communities hosting Sudanese refugees.
Their solidarity is extraordinary. But not infinite. The world must step up its support for the people here.
I can’t believe that the role of the United Nations is being questioned. It may not be the perfect institution but it’s the one that has established some important ideals that should not be lost.
80 years ago today, on 10 January 1946, the United Nations General Assembly met for the first time in London.
This UN was born in a world on fire and desperate for reprieve.
750 million – nearly a third of humanity back then– still under colonial rule.
Two World Wars in a generation.
70 million dead.
The horrors of the Holocaust revealed to our collective shame.
This was a generation that knew almost nothing but suffering and despair. But the signing of the Charter in San Francisco and the first meeting of the 51 states in the Methodist Central Hall in London guided our path from the ashes of war with a compass pointing toward peace, humanity, and justice.
We have not always succeeded.
But the story of this institution is not a story of easy victories. It is the story of pulling ourselves and each other back up and trying harder.
Just as our predecessors did eight decades ago, our job is
to find the resolve not to give up.
The resolve to be Better Together.
On his first official visit as UN High Commissioner for Refugees, @BarhamSalih today called for stronger global support to develop the solutions refugees need to rebuild their lives.
I arrived in Kenya for my first official visit as High Commissioner.
I will be spending time with refugees, listening to their experiences and their hopes for the future.
Kenya’s progress on refugee inclusion is commendable and offers valuable lessons for the world.
I saw how refugees have access to healthcare, education, and play an active part in society benefiting the whole community.
This is how we move from aid dependency to self-reliance.
Kenya is doing its part. It needs greater international support.
In Chiúre, 77% of IDPs face psychological distress.
UNHCR is scaling up protection and psychosocial support:
✔ Individual & group counselling
✔ Active protection desk for referrals
✔ Youth-led community activities fostering healing & inclusion

I spent the day in and around #Goma, Eastern DRC.
Stories of displacement and misery. Stories of strength and resilience.
Decades of conflict have had a devastating impact on people living in this region.
Time for peace — now.
When war reached Sudan, Mhasin fled to Uganda with her kids.
She brought with her a master’s degree and left a career she loved.
Now she’s barely surviving. Her soul is fading. This could happen to any of us. Resilience isn’t enough. Only peace can protect what we value most.
If realized, the agreement between the Democratic Rep of Congo and Rwanda can bring peace at last to millions whose lives have been torn for decades by violence, hatred and greed, including refugees and displaced.
As foreseen by the agreement, UNHCR stands ready to do its part.
#WorldRefugeeDay: Zambia is championing sustainable responses—expanding refugee access to education, energy, and financial services & turning settlements into thriving economic hubs.
A real model for inclusive, long-term support.

Mozambique hosts nearly 25,000 refugees and asylum seekers.
Many have lived in the country for over 10 years—but without documentation, they remain in legal limbo.
Solidarity with refugees means continuing to advocate for their rights and inclusion.
