@StudentLoanTrav I am seeing tons of reports that the final senate language didn’t take out the part that required PPL borrowers be in ICR the day before the enactment. Is that true?
@StudentLoanTrav The way it is currently written, do they intend for this to apply only to those who apply for one of these plans until a decision is made on SAVE? Or are they suggesting it permanently changes? I don’t understand why we should be worried if IBR is protected by statute?
@StudentLoanTrav supposedly PAYE opened back up but when I applied, I got this message “Under current regulations, this repayment plan is available only to borrowers who are already enrolled in PAYE. New enrollment for the PAYE plan are no longer accepted.” 😣 What to do now?
@StudentLoanTrav@FAFSA Do you think this would mean that MOHELA would now process my paper application from 6/3/24 to change from SAVE to PAYE? Or is changing to PAYE still not an option bc of the injunction? I requested it before the 7/1/24 deadline but was then told they weren’t processing anything.
@StudentLoanTrav@FAFSA 2/2 “Thank you for contacting MOHELA,
Due to the administrative stay, servicers have temporarily paused processing of Income-Driven Repayment (IDR) applications until we can ensure applications are processed correctly.” Are they allowed to do this?
@StudentLoanTrav@FAFSA 1/2 Travis - The Dept of Ed’s most recent statement says servicers can enroll borrowers in PAYE if they applied before 7/1/24. I applied back on 6/3/24 to switch to PAYE. I quoted that statement in a message to MOHELA and got the following response…
@StudentLoanTrav I did a paper application on 6/3/24 to change to PAYE before it ended, and MOHELA still hasn’t processed it. When I called this week, the rep told me they are not processing IDR applications until the forebearance is up which he said would be at least until November. 🤷♀️
@StudentLoanTrav If REPAYE replaced SAVE, would those who need to exclude spouse’s income have no options since PAYE will be expired by then? I’m on SAVE now & would like to stay if those who are already on it will be allowed to. But if it changes back to REPAYE as it was before, that won’t work
@StudentLoanTrav If I understand the new SAVE plan correctly, those whose spousal income had to be included on the REPAYE plan will no longer have to do that if filing separately on the new SAVE plan, correct?
