@james_c_rocks Why we voted that way is actually irrelevant - a person's rationale for voting a certain way is not tested in the ballot box - the important point in a democracy is that one option received more votes than the other option in a binary ballot. That option must be implemented.

This explains the state of Canada. The problem with looking at human rights at the individual level for every matter is that it ignores the wider human rights of the law abiding majority. People have a right not to be murdered by a paroled murderer. Perhaps you need to look a recidivism rates for extremely violent offenders?…

@AllisonPearson Not that I agree with any of these schemes but they should be the sole remit of the FCDO on behalf of the UK. Every other council and assembly is subordinate to that and not a single one of them should have a remit to give anything outside their boundary.

Who are you to say what is genuine?

You say you don’t want people to feel uncomfortable but you haven’t said “why” they feel uncomfortable (having chosen to come here!)?

Why on earth should we design a new flag? On what basis? Why should someone not born here, never contributed here, and lives here at our expense not simply be grateful for the protection of living under the flag of this country?
