@megbasham Again, what would you have Abbott and the legislature do? Can they legally ban Muslims from living in the state? I get pressuring Congress and the president to ban Muslims from immigrating to the US, but why criticize state governments?
@megbasham What could Abbott and the texas legislature have done to prevent this? Ban Muslims from living in the state? States can’t ban the construction of Mosques without violating the First Amendment.
Most pro-life laws are not intended to prohibit treatment for miscarriages, ectopic pregnancies, or other obstetric emergencies. However, in practice, some physicians have become more cautious about providing these interventions because they fear legal uncertainty or potential prosecution if their medical judgment is later questioned. For example, dilation and curettage (D&C) is used to treat both miscarriages and elective abortions, and miscarriages are commonly documented in medical records as "spontaneous abortions." Because of this overlap, some hospitals and physicians require additional documentation confirming fetal demise before performing a D&C for a miscarriage, which can delay care. Similarly, when a pregnancy must be ended before fetal viability because of conditions such as preterm prelabor rupture of membranes (PPROM), some physicians may postpone intervention until the patient's condition clearly falls within the law's exception for protecting the mother's life. These delays can increase the risk of serious maternal complications, even when the law itself does not explicitly prohibit the necessary medical treatment.
@DonavanSorcha@EmberArashi@ohgoodforyou12@LiveAction I actually do think surrogacy should be illegal for everyone. The question is: how can you support gestating a baby in a brain dead woman while opposing surrogacy? Implanting your embryo in an unrelated woman is just as unnatural as gestating a child in a brain dead woman.
@sgruber91@BriannaWu Do you consider treating an ectopic pregnancy with a methotrexate shot, which effectively kills the embryo by dissolving its cells, to be an abortion? This seems to be intentional killing, because the goal is to end the embryo’s life before it ruptures the fallopian tube.
@Katy_Faust Your father sounds amazing. I’m glad you had him in your life. Also, doesn’t your adopted Chinese son have two moms: you, his adoptive mom, and his biological mom?
@conservmillen Shouldn’t we know the full psychological and physiological effects of separating babies from their moms at birth? There were centuries where lots of women died in childbirth. Plus, we should have data from adopted children who were separated from their moms at birth.
@LauraLoomer@nypost She lost control and rear ended the truck. The driver didn’t kill her. And we can’t tell from the driver’s name that he was an immigrant.
