Tippecanoe County Historical Association (TCHA) is a not-for-profit organization in Lafayette, Indiana. The TCHA operates four sites in Tippecanoe County, IN.
The Ouiatenon Preserve, a site co-owned and operated by @TippeHistory and The Conservancy in #Indiana, recently received designation as a #NationalHistoricLandmark! Thank you to the French Ambassador for the recognition and support!

OTD: On November 1, 1826, Tippecanoe County’s first marriage license was issued to William Tenary and Rebecca Franklin. Justice of the Peace Levi Thornton married them on November 2nd. This original license (along with all the other county licenses) is kept at TCHA!
OTD: Sept. 12, 1897 — Catholic Bishop Joseph Rademacher officiated at a cornerstone ceremony for St. Ann’s Church going up at Second and Green streets.
OTD: September 8, 1881: Lafayette hosted a convention of the National Christian Temperance Union in Blue Ribbon Hall. The 4,300 unions claimed a national membership of 525,000.
