@MeanestTA I'm a therapist trying to help teenagers cope with anxiety while their mothers won't let them ride a bus on their own. I'm supposed to be putting together an application to test for my full clinical license, but I finished this nativity for my daughter.
@OKWildlifeDept In Quebec City on Dec 24, 2016, I saw a hand carved creche in a store window after closing. All the figures were bears. We left on Dec 27 before the stores opened. I looked again in December 2022 but couldn't even find the store, much less the bear nativity. Very suspicious.
@dadmann_walking You forgot stopping on the way home at our favorite place for chili and chicken nuggets, because I am not going to cook tonight.
Same stop every year when Dad insists we have to ask go out and cut down a Christmas tree.
Balanced meal, you might say.
@KateRothwell We both got them both Saturday 2 weeks ago. Sunday and most of Monday sucked. But we're traveling next week and I feel a lot better about being in an airplane.
@danae_hudlow Thomas the Tank Engine... those books by an Anglican priest that encourage children to be good little engines, to worship Sir Topham Hat, and blame all their working class problems on the diesels.
The last of my children has moved out and people ask me if I have "empty nest syndrome." I don't know what that is. I DO have a guest room, and a much cleaner bathroom.
Also forks. I have enough forks. Every time an offspring moves out, a flatware returns from the void.
@MeanestTA I once brought an overcrowded Christmas shop to an instant, silent stand-still when a woman looking for her daughter barked out my longform name using her "I'm your mother don't play games" voice. Apparently everyone saw my reaction.
@sewistwrites OMG yes. A childhood friend is now a cookbook author and her indices are completely unusable, and she is impervious to suggestion. Molasses cookies do not belong under U for Uncle William.
I'd rather try to decode the yellow subject headers in the Gourmet Cookbook.
@sohelpmejesseca Now I have clients whose parents are telling them it all over if they don't finish high school the year they turn 18. I tell them they've come to the "never too late" girl. It is never too late.
And now, here I am in the never too late tribe.
Y'all are awesome.
@sohelpmejesseca I started my undergrad at age 37, at the community college. I transferred to the state one semester after my oldest started her freshman year there. I graduated at age 45. I started my MSW program at the age of 59 and got my license at age 61.
@angelaculley@piper4missouri I got mine in Maryland in 1996. My husband's role was driving me to and from the procedure. I was never asked what he thought about it. (He thought it was great because it got him off the hook for the vasectomy he'd been promising for years.)
@steadyswer @piper4missouri Yup. SW here. One nursing home admin tried to tell me, "we let you work here," and I reminded him that he was getting 24 hours per week of unpaid labor while I paid 9 credits tuition. Being as old as the admin's mom had an advantage.
@MeanestTA I've been watching Cruella de Squirrel (black squirrel with a white streak in her tail) raiding my bird feeders for three winters. I was surprised when she came back winter 2 and amazed when she came back for winter 3. I'm glad to know I can look for her for a few more.
