@alpsp This would be marvellous if it could occur. Spent a year researching Glioblastoma (GBM4) cell structure, halting molecular progression, angiogenesis, tangeretin 🍊trident approaches for treatment, seeking public access to global gbm4 tumour management. GenAI would’ve been easier!
@alpsp Oh my gosh - this is difficult to hear - AI should be used as a support tool in research not the main bag - everything needs human interaction and expertise and to follow through with corroborating what has been found in any referenced AI outputs -
Our next #alpsp2024 session is The Role of Human Editors in an AI World.
Publishers are using AI for quality control and to improve the author experience; bad actors are using the same tools to pollute the scholarly record.
Wondering what AI means for Talent Management? Don't miss MD of Inspired Search Abigail Barclay this afternoon at this years @alpsp conference where she will be joined by a panel of AI expertise including Timo Hannay, Zara Nanu MBE and Frida Ruh!

The consensus from the panel is that a full flip to OA won’t happen in 2025, but most publishers have a brilliant strategy to achieve this by 2027/2028

Transition will not be even, the speed of change is different around the world 🌎
Predictions from Chris see ANZ and Europe making a sustainable transition together with top tier institutions in North America and Asia vs. China and India developing high volume / low-cost models
A question on everyone’s mind: How do we make the non-APC model sustainable? ❓
Maybe the concept of “value” for a journal needs to change, and so do the metrics used to assess it, suggests Ben
