#OnThisDay in 1965, Frederick Fleet died at 8 Norman Road, Southampton.
As a lookout on Titanic, Fleet was the first to see the iceberg on that fateful night in 1912. He rang the bell, phoned the bridge, and told them: “Iceberg, right ahead.”
He is buried in Holybrook Cemetery.
