@DuaneDieterich@NateSchatzline Hey Duane. The Fruit of the Spirit are pretty famously in Galatians 5. Humility vs. power is all over the Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 5-7), and James 4 (10 or 11ish, I think, specifically. The way of Jesus isn't real obsessed with worldly greatness. The Gospels are clear on that.
Part 3 of a practical series offering advice on how to protect against one of the greatest scourges in the American Church -- child abuse by clergy. Links to previous essays included.

Second in the series of posts on how the Church needs to be better on the policies around standing with victims of clergy sexual abuse. Practical guidance here from one of my dearest mentors and friends who has been in the trenches for years: https://t.co/X5tjQiaHKl
Tip-toeing back into the socials. Most hesitant to re-engage on this platform. But sharing this content is important. Appreciate you reading/sharing. I'll be reflecting on mine & other's experience in battling the church Machine -- and how to be better.

@AishaS I can't manage big problems w/o managing little problems. I simplify my life. I eat decent. I sleep well. I exercise. I get in nature. I connect deeply w/ people. I embrace silence. Only then can I engage & stay present & be halfway effective. And I refuse to believe poeple suck.
Signing off for a while. It has been a good annual practice for me to take a break from social media. Hope you all have a healthy, whole, and happy start to 2024. Peace & all the good stuff,…will see you in a few weeks. 👊🏼

The iconic line “The first rule of Fight Club is you don’t talk about Fight Club” is fitting — because this book isn’t about a Fight Club. It’s more about the fight we’re all in and the quest to not feel alone in it.
Book 32 of 2023: Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk…I never saw the movie, and I picked up the book for myself while Christmas shopping a couple weeks ago. Palahniuk writes in a unique style — it’s choppy and repetitive prose with short chapters. The whole book was only +/- 150 pages
I found it less entertaining and more meaningful. He is definitely writing about substantial themes — male mental illness, community, deconstruction of once trusted systems, and purpose among them.
Book 31 of 2023: Gone Tomorrow by Lee Child
The 13th in the Reacher series, a distinctive of this one is that Reacher narrates. Otherwise, just more chases and fights and problem solving. As I’ve said before, if you’ve read one you’ve read them all.
But still, I read them. 🤷🏻♂️
