Land mafia operating with shocking impunity. In Morabadi’s Van Vrindavan Colony, they are now breaking boundary walls to illegally capture land. This is open lawlessness. @ranchipolice must take immediate cognizance and act.

India is rewriting one of the world’s biggest anti-poverty programs. Critics say a rural job guarantee that once promised a right to work is being quietly dismantled. giftlink: https://t.co/pbMDWVbeEL
“I don’t think I will live long if I continue flying,” said an #IndiGo pilot. “This is zombie work.” Many Indian pilots knew that the country's aviation industry would reach the tipping point that it did some weeks ago. Gift Link:

A large gathering of villagers and tribal leaders strongly opposed the proposed sponge iron cum power plant project of Gajanan Ferro Pvt. Ltd. at Dhalbhumgarh, East Singhbhum. The protest came during a tribal solidarity conference organised on Sunday at Manikabeda football ground under the chairmanship of Dasoram Hansda.
Speakers at the conference, including members of Breakthrough Science Society and Akhil Bharat Janadhikar Manch, warned that the plant would significantly increase water and air pollution, affecting the health and livelihood of thousands of villagers. They argued that the project would compromise farmland and traditional sources of water, threatening the rural ecosystem.

What distinguished Biswa was not just his ability to navigate the nuances of the law and how to use it for the benefit of environment and heritage, but his integrity and passion. He had high ethical standards, never chasing quick fame or popularity. He never compromised on diligence. His enduring aim was justice and relief for those whom the system had failed. He was not someone who would get lured by corporations offering a rich slice of a settlement. That is how his good character as well as long and wise experience of the law had positioned him above the fray. His commitment towards justice was fierce and uncompromising; it was never indiscriminate. His stance before the Courts was forceful and unflinching; his aggression was never for personal gain. It stemmed from logic: he meticulously examined the evidence, understood the suffering, identified the causes, and recognized that only clarity and bold confrontation of false arguments could bring justice. Judges acknowledged this. They respected him because his arguments were not emotional outbursts but logically structured pleas grounded in law and fact. https://t.co/EQZhQOm4Ig
Insurgents inspired by Mao Zedong, who once controlled a spine running through India, are a shadow of themselves. But violence still looms. Grievances underlying one of the world’s longest-running armed struggles remain unresolved. (Gift link)

In 12+ yrs of journalism, never seen this: Joined on Aug 21, next day was asked for an “experience certificate” or offer would be withdrawn. Submitted it, yet they withdrew the offer on Aug 27. The job hunt begins again.
Inquiry Committee Formed: Adani’s Irregularities in Godda (Jharkhand) to be Investigated
In the previous Assembly session, I had raised several serious issues related to the irregularities in the Godda Adani Power Plant. These included –
Violation of the S.P.T. Act in land acquisition,
Overnight reduction of farmers’ fertile land rates by four times,
Forcing local residents to part with their land under pressure,
Amending the State Energy Policy to benefit the company, which resulted in the cancellation of the 25% cheaper electricity that the state was entitled to,
Backtracking on promises made to displaced people regarding employment, and instead of providing jobs in the core company, offering temporary jobs through third parties.
These were some of the major allegations I highlighted.
In response to my allegations, the government assured the House that an inquiry committee under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary would be formed.
In the current Assembly session, I once again raised this issue. The government has now clarified that a committee under the Chief Secretary has indeed been formed, and this committee will investigate all these matters.
I thank the government for this step and hope that the inquiry will be completed transparently, setting an example not only for the state but for the entire nation. I am confident that the displaced families, raiyats, and farmers of Godda will certainly get justice.
At the same time, this investigation will also expose the misdeeds committed through the collusion between BJP and Adani.

Excited to announce that I have joined @Outlookindia as a reporter in New Delhi. I will work with @chinkis and her team. I will report and write on the people, their plight and the policies that affect them. Let's see what is in the offing!
In parallel, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has flagged Vedanta for modifying its demerger scheme after receiving a No-Objection Certificate (NoC) from SEBI and stock exchanges. The regulator termed the move a “serious breach” of its master circular and issued an administrative warning to Vedanta, the report added.
Setback for Vedanta from SC
Meanwhile, in another development, the Supreme Court (SC) has dismissed a plea by the Vedanta Group seeking additional compensation for its Punjab-based Talwandi Sabo Power project.
Talwandi Sabo Power Ltd (TSPL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Vedanta, had filed a petition before the Supreme Court challenging the entitlement to Foreign Trade Policy benefits on account of mega power status.
The Supreme Court on, August 19, upheld the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity’s (APTEL) order, ruling that Talwandi Sabo was never legitimately entitled to such benefits. This effectively closes the door on any additional financial relief from the project. https://t.co/rNZUoqEfMG
BREAKING 🚨 An elephant was living in a monastery in Kolhapur, Maharashtra for 35 years.
This elephant was sent to Ambani's Vantara.
The people of Kolhapur are protesting against this. They say- the country does not belong to Ambani.
The elephant should be sent back.
RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav: Can't find my EPIC RAXXXXX120 in Digha AC in draft SIR published August 1. ECI: Tejaswi Yadav's name is indeed in the draft SIR in Digha. However, ECI's data shows Tejaswi having a different EPIC number RAXXXXX228. Who is at fault, Tejaswi or the ECI?
The Election Commission abruptly started an “intensive revision” of electoral rolls right before a critical assembly election. It has shifted goalposts: first demanding documentation & then just asking for enumeration forms. Voters will be susceptible to abuse & extortion just because they don’t satisfy the ECI’s arbitrary list of documentary proof of citizenship
A must read response by Viceroy Research: "What Vedanta presented as an “independent legal opinion” from a former Chief Justice is, in reality, a PR release dressed in legalese that fails to refute, investigate, or even engage with a single substantive financial allegation in our reports.
Ironically: it appears that VEDL has borne the cost of obtaining a legal opinion for the sole intention of disproving that its Promoters are kleptocrats.HZL’s exports of 93% pure silver sand to Fujairah Gold were downplayed or denied, despite disclosures in HZL’s own annual report. High-purity, near-finished metal is being sent to a refinery with a questionable track record.
HZL’s auditor, SR Batliboi, failed to investigate material concerns, relying entirely on management assertions while the company’s capital base deteriorated and governance collapsed.
CFO Sandeep Modi’s “₹10,000 crore ($1.17b) free cash flow” claim collapses under scrutiny. Cash flows are subsidized by debt.
No mention was made of HZL’s Serentica investment, a 30-year, 0.0001% coupon instrument with no voting rights: a direct cash transfer to the promoter outside the reach of credit.
In 2018, Viceroy issued a report and presentation on Ebix: a US NASDAQ-listed company with subsidiaries in India. In response to our findings, delusional hype-man-cum CEO Robin Raina filed a suit against Viceroy in India, one which the Hon’ble Mr. Chandrachud claims is a “similar matter”.
We agree that this is a similar matter in the sense that:
▪ Viceroy is not short an Indian entity.
▪ An Indian subsidiary of a kleptocratic promoter company we are short has attacked us in India for being
short an internationally listed asset, who reports all Indian financial data internationally.
▪ The promoters committed fraud." https://t.co/qwRo4rTqFM
