Being totally unfiltered is great for having fun and not stressing too much...and it builds trust with people (usually those who agree with whatever your unfiltered beliefs are lol).
But it also comes with risks. You can be callous and insensitive to others and lose friends/connections. Some will argue this is a plus, but that depends highly on context. Many people justify their douchiness through some self-aggrandizing "I'm just being myself" argument.
You can be yourself and be a POS lol.
In fact, everyone is always being themselves at all times no matter what. It's impossible to not be yourself.
Conversely, being filtered and very deliberate with your words and actions is great for understanding and connecting with people from any background and for having a polished, attractive demeanor (if you do it right). It builds attraction.
But it comes with risks. It can create a lack of trust because people can feel you're not showing everything...you're fake. Many people take this too far and are actively hiding many of their beliefs/feelings and justify it with some argument that they're being diplomatic and empathetic, but in fact they're cowardly, afraid that someone might find their views....troublesome. However, these people are still "being themselves" in the sense that they are the kind of person who WOULD cloak themselves like a chameleon to blend in with whomever they need. THAT IS WHO THEY ARE. By definition.
It's dishonest, but it's who they are. Make sense?
The solution is to
1. Have the right intentions
2. Adapt skillfully to each context
That solution looks something like this.
If saying what you believe will rustle some feathers or cause conflict, is there anything to gain with filtering yourself?
What you gain could be just avoiding unnecessary conflict and a disruption to your peace. That coworker doesn't need to see that super offensive meme you just liked and everyone doesn't need to hear your rant about society. There's nothing to gain....UNLESS you're actively training yourself to not be a coward anymore and not be afraid of judgment so you gotta start expressing yourself fully in pursuit of that more authentic life. Okay, go for it man. Say it with your chest. Or you're purposefully filtering OUT anyone who is a sheep. Cool. But be ready for conflict. You're disrupting the norm so don't cry when it happens.
But once you've proven you can do that then there's no reason to be so unfiltered all the time and walk around saying how you feel for no reason. That's just impolite and lacks class. You're purposefully being a prick for your own enjoyment.
However, if you're in a group of friends where you all are collectively unfiltered then someone tries to come in and say that you're offensive and you guys need to stop saying X, then you're justified to crash out on him because he's coming into YOUR space and trying to tell you what to do...and if you're objectively in the right, then give him a piece of your unfiltered mind.
On the other hand, if you're just living daily life and have to interact with people who have differing belief systems and whatnot, then just be chill and polite. Politeness and grace are universally GOOD traits. Only when you're surrounded by demons are these seen as weaknesses, but they're still strengths.
And if you become skilled in filtering yourself correctly, you can connect with all sorts of people and THEN show them your unfiltered side and they'll accept it and understand it and may even LOVE it. But if you just show it right away, they'll mistake your unfilteredness for callousness and rudeness.
It's YOUR job to advertise YOURSELF correctly. There's no way to make everyone happy and stepping on eggshells is NOT what I'm advising.
There's times to be filtered and times to be unfiltered. Find the correct move in each scenario depending on you and the people in that environment and what your current goals are.
Relationships will expose your insecurities. It’s impossible to hide them long term with someone you see every day.
So start working on them ASAP or they will eat your relationship from the inside.
The one and only insecurity I would advise you not share with her is any jealousy of other men…and not even cuz it will make her lose attraction for you (it will tho…less so if shes not a low class primate of a woman) but because she literally can’t help you with it since if you were insecure in the first place then it came from thinking she likes him so she can’t rly convince you otherwise and you’ll always think it’s an act. You have to deal with this one on your own internally.
But any other insecurity you can share with her and have her work with you on it. Obviously don’t be a child who needs help with everything but a good woman can and will help you (and anyone who disagrees is either dating bad women or weak women cuz a queen will 100% help you with stuff so stop dating peasant women or was too cowardly to try and is stuck in a rly gay mentality that you cant talk to women about your problems which also shows their level of game).
