False images of God have multiplied and idols have increased followership but it is largely still an ungodly generation.

I saw a tweet saying the APC needs to be rooted out and state capture by politicians stopped, and I found myself laughing, not because the issues are funny, but because we still do not fully grasp how deep the problem runs.

If we trace our political journey from 1999, or even more clearly from 2003 when the PDP firmly held power, what exactly changed between then and 2015 beyond the names on the ballot. The same political actors, the same networks, the same structures have simply rotated positions. Today, we see familiar faces reappearing under new banners, and the cycle continues. When I looked at the composition of the ADC and saw the usual cast of characters, it reinforced a difficult truth that we are still recycling the same political class while expecting fundamentally different outcomes.

The challenge facing Nigeria is far more complex than the success or failure of any one party or any one president. No single leader can transform a country where dysfunction has become embedded in everyday systems and behaviours. Real change requires a collective shift in values and standards across society.

It requires employers who understand that fair wages are not generosity but responsibility. It requires HR professionals who protect dignity rather than weaponize process. It requires neighbours who respect shared spaces and live in peace with one another. It requires local government leaders who genuinely serve the people rather than exploit proximity to power. It requires a police force that stands consistently on the side of justice rather than convenience.

Until we confront the fact that national transformation must happen simultaneously at institutional, cultural, and individual levels, we will keep repeating the same pattern. We will remove one group of politicians only to replace them with another group shaped by the same incentives, the same pressures, and the same permissive environment.

The country we hope to see cannot be built solely at the ballot box. It must also be built in offices, in homes, in communities, and in everyday decisions. Without that broader shift, political change alone will continue to feel like motion without progress.

I don’t even understand you people anymore. Minister Wike’s behaviour was totally immature, unministerial and unnecessary show of bigmanism to publicly embarrass himself. There are better ways to handle this matter than that show of shame and unguarded utterances he hurled at the military officer.

For the military officer, whether he’s obeying a lawful or unlawful order, it’s still not in the place of the Minister to call him names and insult him in that manner. Let him face the appropriate disciplinary action as stipulated by law, if he is eventually found guilty. But certainly not for his conduct towards the minister, because that conduct was with maximum restraint, polite and respectful, even though the old man minister didn’t conduct himself with respect.
