Still learning planetary processing, but this attempt at Saturn is my favorite yet! Capturing a world 886M miles away is a rewarding challenge. Nothing beats the eyepiece view though—saw Rhea, Dione & Enceladus too! 🪐🔭

@tw__astro What camera were you using? Manual or automatic tracking? I am amazed evertime I view Saturn with my 8"dobsonian. I cannot imagine the thrill of live seeing with 24".
@tridence@MapQuest It will never be Lake america by anyone outside of maga cult. The rest of the world and US will continue to use the name that has existed for hundreds of years. Lake Ontario.
No eclipse too cloudy. So instead I spent the time stacking and editing 325 images of IC5070 the Pelican Nebula. I made 3 versions. Any feedback is appreciated. New to astrophotography. Less than 80 days of trying.

Heart of Fire and Ice
The Heart Nebula (IC 1805) in Cassiopeia, ~7,500 ly away. Captured from my Bortle 5-6 backyard in Massillon, OH with a Dwarf 3 (duo-narrowband Hα/OIII), 160×30s subs, ~80 min integration. Blue core is cluster Melotte 15 carving through the surrounding gas.
@jessicaverdi @kimscorcher@blahblahgoals@thatryanmyers Well that is disappointing. That was one of the things I looked forward to daily. Thank you for entertaining/informing me. You will be missed.
@KimLaCapria That is correct limewash will allow the brick to "breathe". Limewash will also have some natural anti-fungal properties which may be beneficial in a damp area.
@KimLaCapria I used masonry lime and mixed it with water until a thin consistency. A 50 pound bag of lime cost me about $10 and I used about 5 pounds to apply 2 coats of it to the brick. Much cheaper than buying it from a paint supply store.
