Opening the fields was just the beginning. We’re investing the future of every kid in OKC’s urban core, ensuring these spaces stay safe, accessible, and ready for every OKCPS student who steps onto them for generations to come.

In 2019, our community recognized that ours was quite possibly the only top 50 city without any kind of multipurpose stadium above the high school level. That reality was going to end our relationship with professional soccer, the world’s most popular sport. It was also costing us other opportunities. This included certain concert tours, as well as sporting events like high school football championships, minor league professional football, collegiate soccer and other collegiate events held on fields.
Through MAPS 4, voters overwhelmingly approved an investment toward our city’s first multipurpose stadium. Later, we secured a donation of the land from the owners of our professional soccer team. In 2024, we committed more resources from TIF funds. And then in October of this year our voters overwhelmingly approved the final funding piece, bringing our total stadium budget to approximately $120 million. A budget at this level allows our city to imagine a facility on the level of others in the United Soccer League (USL).
Populous and the owners of our city’s USL Championship team (Echo Investment Capital) have been working with the City over the last few months to develop the conceptual design, and today that was presented to the MAPS 4 subcommittee. I can now share those images with you. This stadium will anchor a new district south of Bricktown under development by Echo. We expect a groundbreaking in early 2026.
