It hardly feels real but it’s finally done! Thank you to everyone who came to my defense and all who watched remotely I could never have anticipated there would be so many! What an [adjective] time that was. I couldn’t have asked for better than the @ToBoLab

I've stayed mum through #FreshVsSaltyFish so far, but on today's theme of #beauty, I feel compelled to throw up these gorgeous Hawaiian endemics. Chaetodon tinkeri (1) and Pseudanthias hawaiiensis (2,3) are residents of deeper reefs >30m depth and are absolute stunners.
This #AlohaFriday we wanted to commemorate our "Bridge to Nowhere" which is now more like a few steps... This bridge previously was a walkway to a processing building when Moku o Loʻe was a hub for a tuna fishery. Thanks to Chris Suchocki of the @ToBoLab for the shots!
Yesterday on a bay of glass, we were fortunate to catch some of our local mantas (Mobula alfredi) and a large school of ‘ōpelu (Decapterus macarellus) feasting upon the abundant plankton.
The "beach house" as we lovingly call this space has hosted many gatherings of scientists, community members, friends, and family from near and far over the years. Do you have a special memory here? While we can't gather in this place now, we can share it virtually 💙
