The journalism of this story is strange.
A senator is accused. He offers an "exclusive" statement that rejects all the claims (with no evidence) and you run it?
An interview is different. You can push back, demand proof. This is literally copying and pasting his defense.

Hace unos meses escribí sobre la urgencia de que el progresismo dispute el terreno de la seguridad y hoy me parece buen día para recordarlo. La noticia sobre "Bendito Menor" muestra capacidad operativa del Estado y se trata de alguien que causó mucho daño y burló a la institucionalidad.

Entonces, mientras el progresismo siga ausente del debate sobre qué es la seguridad, cómo se garantiza y cómo se comunica, buena parte de la población seguirá viéndolo como lo ve hoy: el sector inexperto que no entiende ni es empático con la inseguridad que vive la gente, el que tolera el caos y la impunidad.

Y sí, a rey muerto, rey puesto, y si no se va más allá de capturar o dar de baja, poco cambiará de fondo. Pero hoy la gente se queda con que algo se está haciendo, con que su reclamo por seguridad es tomado en serio. Y posiblemente poco se exigirá a mediano y largo plazo y poco se cuestionará de aquí en adelante. Y así caminar entre muertos, exhibirlos, hablar como el enemigo que se dice combatir quedará en un segundo plano.

@ObhishekSaha I agree with all of the above. Most Brits do not. Every one always has some variation of "I believe in free speech but there must be limits" (so not really free speech). Is free speech so important that it must be imposed on an unwilling population? Perhaps.
