@vmstagemom I’m struggling to identify what the difference is between this and a Choreo Step / Rhythm Sequence? And how does the ‘acrobatic movement’ lend itself to the waltz theme…?
@jodiecongirl@rockerskating This confused me also, but I think there is an old deductions document from August 2023 on the ISU website (this states it should receive Basic Level), and then the current seasons Technical Guidance document, which states as Jackie says that it gets Level 3 (in this case).
@1644vms I don’t think they got their entry feature (waltz jump) counted. There has to be a clear jumping action and here it looks more like a hop / step. Without this feature they max out at level 2.
@AnythingGOE Requirement for the arm feature is that they remain straight throughout all four rotations…Guillaume’s don’t look straight to me (during rotations 3 & 4). Combining that with his slight check in the first twizzle and I am surprised they got Level 4.

@myPriv123937@rockerskating Hmmm could be!! They haven’t changed that choreography since the Grand Prix Final so unfortunate to see the inconsistency in judging. Personally I would say the out-of-hold before they reach the boards isn’t part of the ChRS, and so shouldn’t count as part of it.
@rockerskating At first I thought this, that they separated for more than 5s at the beginning, but timing it comes out at 4.7s. They then stop and break hold, but G’s leg is touching L’s back, so are still in contact. This stop was 4s, so not too long either. I’m stumped!
@rockerskating … they definitely got within 2m of the barriers. From the camera angle you can’t tell if they were too far apart during the separation, so could be that!
Either way, a useful way to keep the competition open for the final group…
@jodiecongirl@rockerskating If not this then what do you think it could be?
I couldn’t see anything else in the program that appears on that list.
The jump itself was not assisted in the style of a ‘lift’, Emilea jumped a full 1.5 rotations with her arm held above her head which was held by Vadym.
@rockerskating At this point it’s safer just not to separate at all…I think this is what Guillaume was referring to that they are actually making it harder to be truly creative, with all these unnecessary restrictions…
@rockerskating What do we think to this ! then? Only thing that seems likely is the separation in the middle of the ChSt is > 2 arms lengths, but it’s not very convincing.
@rockerskating Interesting the see the second part of the combo lift only getting level 3 - it got level 4 for the same element at the French Grand Prix. Same as Gilles / Poirier. A tough panel.
@circulartwizzle The issue with the ChSt’s is that they aren’t free from restrictions.
You are restricted on spacing to the boards, each other, time apart, distance apart, retrogressions and looping.
If they are to keep the element, they should say for these ~20seconds, do whatever you want!
@chazzleazzle Up until ~2018 Olympics it was a single combined level (based on the lowest partner) for all Twizzles and Step Sequences. It started to change after that.
