Cambodian PM Calls for Independent Investigation into Thai Border Shooting
...............
AKP - Phnom Penh, November 12, 2025 --Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has called for an independent investigation into the Thai military’s attacks on Cambodian civilians today, urging the involvement of foreign experts to uncover the truth and deliver justice to the victims.
The Premier made the appeal via his official social media platform this evening, strongly condemning the use of violence by the Thai side against innocent Cambodian civilians in Prey Chan village.
He stressed that this act runs counter to humanitarian principles and violates previous agreements to resolve border issues peacefully, particularly the agreement to allow the Joint Boundary Commission (JBC) to survey and install temporary border markers while maintaining the status quo until the completion of the measurements and the JBC’s decision.
“I urge the Thai side to immediately cease the use of force against innocent Cambodian civilians in Prey Chan village, as well as the use of any form of violence in resolving border issues between the two countries,” he said.
At the same time, Samdech Thipadei instructed local authorities and relevant forces to take urgent measures to ensure the safety and protection of the citizens.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed Cambodia’s steadfast commitment to resolving the issue peacefully, in line with the spirit of the Kuala Lumpur Joint Declaration signed on Oct. 26, 2025, to end conflict and build lasting peace between the two countries.
